The Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme has now adopted an Aadhaar-based payment system, similar to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
From this year onwards, beneficiaries will receive all housing assistance installments only through Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The move is aimed at improving transparency, ensuring faster payments, and preventing misuse of the scheme.
Aadhaar Number Now Mandatory
Under the new rules, beneficiaries must provide their Aadhaar number while registering on the Housing Portal.
Without Aadhaar details, no payment will be processed.
Once the Aadhaar number is verified, all installments will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
According to the Rural Development Department, this change will make the payment process more secure and accountable.
Why Has the Rule Changed?
Although the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme is run by the state government, it is managed through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) portal of the central government.
The state government had requested the Ministry of Rural Development to introduce the Aadhaar-based payment facility for this scheme as well.
After making the required technical changes to the portal, the ministry has now implemented the new system.
What Will Be the Benefit?
Officials believe the Aadhaar-based payment system will help ensure that financial assistance reaches only eligible beneficiaries.
It is also expected to reduce the chances of fake or ineligible applicants receiving benefits while making the entire payment process more transparent and efficient.
