The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has reopened its online portal after a nearly two-week technical upgrade.

PF account holders can now log in to check their passbooks, account balance, and transaction details.

The portal was temporarily shut down to implement technical improvements and update several services.

During this period, many users faced difficulties accessing their accounts and submitting claims.

Passbook Service Restored, But Older Transactions Are Missing

EPFO has confirmed that the passbook service is now active again.

However, at present, users can only view transactions made during the current financial year.

Details of older transactions are not yet visible because EPFO is still migrating previous records to the upgraded system.

According to the organisation, this process has been underway since July 3 and is expected to be completed within the next few days.

Once the migration is complete, all past transaction details will automatically appear in the passbook.

Account holders do not need to submit any separate request.

8.25% Interest to Be Credited After July 15

EPFO has also announced that 8.25% interest for the previous financial year will start being credited to PF accounts after July 15.

Around 8 crore EPF subscribers are expected to receive the interest amount.

Once it is credited, members can log in to their passbook to check the updated balance.

Maintenance Took Longer Than Expected

EPFO had closed its portal in late June for maintenance and system upgrades.

Initially, the organisation had planned to restore services by June 29, but the work took around 11 days longer than expected before the portal became fully operational again.

UAN Activation Process Has Changed

EPFO has also introduced a major change in the Universal Account Number (UAN) activation process.

Members can no longer activate their UAN through the Unified Member Portal.

Instead, UAN activation must now be done through the UMANG mobile app using Aadhaar-based face authentication.

The upgraded EPFO portal also provides information about this new activation process.
