The Indian government has become alert after the rising threat of the deadly Ebola virus spreading from Central Africa.

After the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak an international emergency, strict monitoring has now started at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

The Ministry of Health, along with airport authorities, has issued a special health advisory for passengers arriving from abroad.

Extra precautions are being taken to stop the virus from entering the country.

Passengers From These Countries Under Special Watch

According to the latest advisory, travelers arriving from or through three African countries will face intensive health screening at Delhi Airport.

These high-risk countries are:

Congo

Uganda

South Sudan

Passengers coming directly or through connecting flights from these countries are being closely monitored by health officials.

The Airport Health Organisation (APHO) has also urged travelers not to hide any health-related information during screening.

What Travelers Need to Do at the Airport

Health officials have issued important instructions for international passengers arriving in India.

If any traveler feels unwell or notices Ebola-like symptoms after landing, they must immediately report to the airport health desk before immigration clearance.

Passengers who may have come into contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected person during travel are also being asked to inform the medical team without delay.

Authorities say early reporting is extremely important to prevent the spread of the virus.

These Ebola Symptoms Should Not Be Ignored

The Health Department has warned travelers to stay alert for common Ebola symptoms.

Major symptoms include:

High fever

Severe headache

Extreme weakness and fatigue

Muscle pain

Vomiting and diarrhea

Sore throat

Unexplained bleeding

Doctors say ignoring these warning signs can become dangerous if medical help is delayed.

Government Issues Important 21-Day Warning

One of the biggest concerns with Ebola is its long incubation period. Symptoms may not appear immediately after infection.

Because of this, the Health Department has issued a 21-day advisory for travelers returning from high-risk countries.

If any person develops symptoms within 21 days of arriving in India, they should immediately visit the nearest hospital or medical facility and inform doctors about their travel history.

The government has also requested all international passengers to cooperate fully with health screening and safety checks being carried out at airports to protect public health and national safety.
