Elon Musk is taking another big step toward turning X into an “everything app.” The company has officially launched X Money, a new digital payment
and banking service that lets users send money, receive payments, pay bills, and access several banking features without leaving the X app.
For now, the service is available only to X Premium and Premium+ subscribers in the United States. There is no official confirmation yet about when it will launch in India or other countries.
Send Money and Access Banking Services in the X App
One of the biggest features of X Money is that users can send money to another X user simply by entering their username.
There is no need to switch to a separate payment app. According to the company, transfers between X users will not have any extra fees.
X Money also offers several banking services within the app. Users can receive their salary directly into their account, pay bills, make bank wire transfers,
and even send physical checks when needed. The goal is to bring everyday financial services into one platform.
Visa Debit Card Also Introduced
X has partnered with Visa to launch a debit card for X Money users. The card can be used for both online and offline purchases. It can also be linked to Apple Wallet, making contactless payments more convenient.
Elon Musk has repeatedly said that he wants X to become a super app similar to China’s WeChat. The launch of X Money is seen as a major step toward achieving that vision.
Available Only in the US for Now
X Money is currently available only in the United States and only for X Premium and Premium+ subscribers. The service was previously tested with a limited number of users before its public rollout.
The company has not announced any timeline for launching X Money in India or other international markets. In the US, the new service is expected to compete with popular digital payment platforms such as PayPal and Venmo.
