The Delhi government is preparing to introduce new smart ration cards equipped with QR codes. These upgraded cards will include advanced digital features to make the ration distribution system more transparent, efficient, and user-friendly.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed officials to start issuing these smart cards soon. A review meeting was also held with the Food

and Supplies Department, where ongoing schemes, system improvements, and public service delivery were discussed in detail.

Weekly Complaint Camps to Solve Ration Card Issues

To make the system more responsive, the government has announced weekly complaint redressal camps starting May 1. These camps will be held every Saturday from 9 AM to 11 AM at all designated centers.

At these camps, Assistant Commissioners will be present to ensure that public complaints are resolved immediately. The Chief Minister has also ordered surprise inspections of these camps to check whether issues are being properly addressed.

The main aim is to provide quick solutions and improve accountability in the system.

New Applications and Strict Action on Irregularities

The government will soon invite new applications for ration cards. A special committee will also be formed to select eligible beneficiaries fairly, ensuring that no deserving person is left out.

Officials have been instructed to raise awareness about the “One Nation, One Ration Card” scheme. This will help beneficiaries understand that ration can only be collected from one location at a time.

The Chief Minister also expressed concern over problems like under-supply, delays, and irregular deductions in ration distribution. Strict action will be taken against dealers and suppliers found guilty of such practices.

Smart Digital Upgrade for Better Service

To improve transparency, the government will issue new smart ration cards with QR codes and modern digital features. These upgrades aim to reduce errors, prevent misuse, and make the entire process smoother for citizens.
