WhatsApp is no longer just a messaging app. It is slowly turning into a “super app” by adding more useful features for everyday needs.

Now, the platform has introduced a new feature in India that allows users to recharge their prepaid mobile numbers directly within the app.

This feature supports users of Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. Earlier, people had to switch between apps like Paytm or Google Pay to recharge, but now everything can be done inside WhatsApp itself.

WhatsApp Becomes More Powerful

Millions of users in India already use WhatsApp Pay for sending and receiving money. With the addition of mobile recharge, the app is becoming more useful than ever.

This update will help users save time, as they no longer need multiple apps for different tasks. However, the feature is being rolled out slowly, so it may not be available to everyone immediately.

How the Recharge Feature Works

Using this new feature is simple and quick. Users just need to go to the Payments section in WhatsApp, where they will find the mobile recharge option.

After entering the mobile number, the app automatically detects the operator or lets users choose it manually. Then, users can pick a suitable plan

and complete the payment using UPI. The entire process happens within the app, making it smooth and hassle-free.

Step-by-Step Guide to Recharge

Step 1: Update WhatsApp from the Play Store or App Store and open the app. Then go to the Payments section.

Step 2: Tap on the “Mobile Recharge” option.

Step 3: Enter the mobile number you want to recharge. The operator (Jio, Airtel, or Vi) will be detected automatically or can be selected manually.

Step 4: Choose a recharge plan from the list and make the payment using UPI (WhatsApp Pay or any other UPI option).

Step 5: Once the payment is completed, your recharge will be successful, and you will receive a confirmation message.

Big Challenge for Payment Apps

Until now, apps like PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay were the most popular choices for mobile recharges. But with this new feature, WhatsApp is likely to give them strong competition.

Since WhatsApp is already one of the most widely used apps in India, adding recharge services could make it an all-in-one platform for chatting, payments, and daily digital tasks.
