The end of August is bringing several important deadlines for millions of people. If you use an LPG connection, need to file ITR-3 or ITR-4, or have an Axis Bank debit card, make sure you don’t miss these dates.
Here’s a quick look at the key changes and deadlines before the month ends.
LPG e-KYC Deadline Extended
LPG consumers have received some relief. The government has extended the deadline to complete e-KYC for domestic LPG connections to August 31, 2026.
There are nearly 329.7 million active domestic LPG users in India. Customers who have not completed e-KYC will receive messages reminding them to finish the process.
The good news is that LPG cylinder supply will not stop after August 31. However, the Petroleum Ministry is yet to announce whether customers with incomplete e-KYC will face any changes in LPG pricing.
You Can Still Complete e-KYC Later
Even if you miss the August 31 deadline, you will still be able to complete your LPG e-KYC later.
According to LPG dealers and oil companies, e-KYC is an ongoing process and will continue even after the deadline.
No Change in LPG Cylinder Prices
There has been no change in LPG prices as of August 25. Both domestic and commercial cylinder prices remain the same as they were at the beginning of August.
Here are the current prices:
Delhi: ₹942 (14.2 kg domestic), ₹2,738 (19 kg commercial)
Ranchi: ₹999.50 (domestic), ₹2,922 (commercial)
Mumbai: ₹941.50 (domestic), ₹2,691.50 (commercial)
LPG prices differ from city to city due to local taxes, transportation costs, and other regional factors.
ITR-3 and ITR-4 Filing Deadline is August 31
Taxpayers filing ITR-3 or ITR-4 must submit their income tax returns by August 31, 2026 if their accounts do not require an audit.
This includes many freelancers, self-employed professionals, small business owners, and taxpayers using the presumptive taxation schemes under Sections 44AD or 44ADA.
If you fall into this category, it’s better to file your return before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.
Axis Bank Debit Card Charges to Increase
Axis Bank debit card users should also be aware of an important change.
From August 28, 2026, the bank will increase its Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fee from 1.5% to 3.5%.
The DCC fee applies when you make international card payments and choose to pay in Indian rupees instead of the local currency.
If you’re planning to travel abroad or make overseas transactions using an Axis Bank debit card, keep this new charge in mind before making payments.
