Traveling on national highways may now come with an unexpected reward.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a new initiative called the Clean Toilet Picture Challenge.

Under this scheme, highway users can earn ₹1,000 if they report a dirty toilet at an NHAI-operated toll plaza.

The aim is simple — keep highway facilities clean and ensure better hygiene for women, children, senior citizens, and long-distance travelers.

How You Can Earn ₹1,000

If you come across an unhygienic toilet at an NHAI toll plaza, here’s what you need to do:

Click a photo showing the issue clearly.

Make sure the photo has a geo-tag and time-stamp.

Upload it on the RajamargYatra mobile app.

After verification, if the complaint is found genuine, ₹1,000 will be credited directly to your FASTag account.

The reward will not be given in cash. Instead, it will be added as FASTag balance and can be used for future toll payments.

Important Rules You Should Know

NHAI has set clear conditions for the scheme:

The campaign will run until June 30, 2026.

Each vehicle can receive the reward only once during the campaign.

Only the first valid complaint of the day for a specific toilet will qualify.

The scheme applies only to NHAI toll plazas.

Toilets at private petrol pumps or dhabas are not covered.

These rules are meant to ensure fairness and prevent misuse.

Why This Matters for Travelers

States like Bihar see heavy daily traffic on national highways.

For families and drivers covering long distances, clean toilets are not a luxury — they are a necessity.

Through this initiative, NHAI is trying to make toll operators more accountable by involving the public directly in monitoring cleanliness.

The message is clear: if you spot poor hygiene, report it.

Your complaint could not only improve facilities for others but also earn you a reward.
