Google has announced a major upgrade for video creators with the launch of Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, a new generative AI model designed for faster and smarter video creation.
The tool can extend existing videos, generate missing scenes, and even create new clips using short reference videos. It also supports video generation in up to 4K resolution.
To make video production faster and more affordable, Google has also introduced a 360p draft mode, allowing creators to quickly preview their work before generating higher-quality versions.
Extend Videos with AI
One of the biggest upgrades is the new scene extension feature. Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash can now understand the last 10 seconds of an existing video, compared to just 1 second in earlier versions.
Creators can extend videos in 10-second segments, with a maximum extension of 40 seconds. This helps maintain the same visual style, characters, and storytelling throughout the video.
Another useful feature allows users to choose the first and last frame of a scene. The AI automatically creates everything in between, making smooth transitions without manual editing.
It also supports advanced camera movements such as zooms, camera orbits, and looping scenes.
Uses Short Videos as Reference
Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash can also use up to 3 seconds of reference video to create new content. This helps the AI keep the same character appearance, background, and overall style.
Google also showed that multiple reference clips can be combined to create more natural movements and realistic video sequences.
Where Can You Use It?
Developers can access Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash through the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, while enterprise customers can use it through the Agent Platform API.
Google has also released detailed documentation, prompting guides, and a cookbook to help developers get started.
The new model is also rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers through Google Flow.
These users will also get the new scene extension feature inside the Gemini app.
According to Google, companies including Adobe, Figma Weave, GMI Cloud, and Runway are already integrating Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash into their video editing workflows.
