WhatsApp is continuously launching new features for its users. Recently, a new feature has started rolling out. Earlier, WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp was developing a group calling feature for web clients.

With this feature, users can make calls directly from the browser without installing the desktop app.

This feature supports both voice and video calls. Currently, it is in the development phase so that users can get a smooth and bug-free experience when it is officially released.

The good news is that this feature has started rolling out for some users. Now, users can make calls directly from individual chats while using WhatsApp in a browser.

Screenshots Shared by WABetaInfo

WABetaInfo shared screenshots of this feature in a post. The screenshots show that the feature has arrived for some web clients. WhatsApp has been working on this feature for about a year.

In the initial stage, WhatsApp is offering voice and video calling for individual chats on web clients. Users do not need to install the desktop app. According to the report, to make a call, users just need to open a chat and tap the call button.

End-to-End Encryption and Screen Sharing

Calls made through WhatsApp Web are protected by end-to-end encryption, which means user privacy remains secure. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Web calls will also support screen sharing.

This allows users to share their screen in real time during a video call. To use screen sharing, the user must be in an active video call.

Benefits for Users and Future Rollout

This feature is especially useful for Linux users because WhatsApp does not offer a desktop app for Linux.

Currently, the feature is available only to users who have joined the WhatsApp Web beta program. WhatsApp plans to roll out this feature to more users in the coming days.

In addition, the group calling feature on WhatsApp Web, without needing a desktop app, will also be available soon.
