If you are planning to visit a bank for any important work, this update is very important for you. Banking services will be affected for nearly a week in three northeastern states due to Christmas-related holidays.

These continuous bank holidays may cause inconvenience to regular customers as well as business owners, so it is best to plan ahead.

Five-Day Bank Closure in Three States

Banks in Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya will remain closed for five consecutive days, from December 24 to December 28. The closure is due to a combination of Christmas-related holidays along with the weekend.

List of Holidays:

December 24: Christmas Eve

December 25: Christmas

December 26: Christmas Celebration

December 27: Second Saturday

December 28: Sunday

During these five days, no public or private bank branches will be open in these states.

Services That Will Be Affected

Since banks will be completely closed, services such as cash deposits, cash withdrawals at counters, cheque clearance, passbook updates, demand drafts,

and all other over-the-counter services will not be available. This may especially affect businesses, senior citizens, and customers who depend on offline banking.

Digital Banking Services Will Continue

The good news is that digital banking services will remain active. Facilities like net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATM services will work as usual.

Customers can transfer money, pay bills, and withdraw cash from ATMs. However, in some areas, ATMs may face cash shortages due to delayed refilling.

Nationwide Bank Closure on December 25

Apart from the northeastern states, banks across India will remain closed on December 25 on account of Christmas.

Both public and private banks will not offer counter services on this day. Customers are advised to complete all important banking work in advance to avoid inconvenience.
