If you are using a Google Pixel phone, there is good news. Google has started rolling out another system update for some Pixel devices this December.
This update is arriving just a few weeks after the main Android 16 QPR2 update and the December Pixel Drop. Unlike the regular monthly updates, this one is much smaller
and seems to be released only to fix specific problems, not to add new features. Many users are getting this update unexpectedly after already installing the standard December update.
Limited Rollout to Select Models and Regions
According to reports from Reddit, Google is pushing a second, smaller December 2025 update to select Pixel phones.
Users of the Pixel 8, Pixel 9, and Pixel 10 series have confirmed receiving this update through OTA (over-the-air) after installing the earlier Android 16 QPR2 update.
Most reports are from the United States, although some users in the UK have also received it. The rollout appears limited, and it is not yet clear whether all regions or carriers will get this update.
Small Size Indicates Bug Fix Update
The update size is reportedly around 25MB, which suggests it is a targeted bug-fix update rather than a full monthly patch. Google has not yet published factory images or OTA files for this build, and no official changelog has been released so far.
On Google’s Pixel firmware download page, only the original December update is currently listed. Availability details for older Pixel models such as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series have not yet been confirmed.
Verizon Confirms Fixes for Key Issues
However, Verizon has shared update details for the Pixel 8 to Pixel 10 series. The update is identified by the build number BP4A.251205.006.E1.
According to Verizon’s release notes, this update fixes three main issues: faster-than-normal battery drain, intermittent touch responsiveness problems on the Pixel 10,
and difficulties accessing locally cached content—such as offline media or maps—after upgrading directly to Android 16 from Android 14 or older versions.
Extra Update After a Busy Month for Pixel Users
This update comes after a busy month for Pixel users. Earlier in December, Google released the regular monthly security and bug-fix update along with the December Pixel Drop.
The new OTA appears to be an additional, small update focused on essential fixes rather than introducing new features.
