If your name is wrong or misspelled, you must get it corrected.

But many people are unsure about how many times they can update their name and what the rules are.

How Many Times Can You Change Your Name on Aadhaar?

UIDAI has fixed clear rules for name corrections.

According to the guidelines:

You can change your name only two times on your Aadhaar card.

These two attempts include spelling corrections, changing the sequence of your name, or updating your name after marriage.

Each update costs ₹50, and you can correct up to two details in a single request.

If You Cross the Two-Update Limit

If you need another name change after using both attempts, UIDAI will only allow it if you provide a strong and valid reason.

For approval, you must apply for special permission and submit valid supporting documents.
