The 8th Pay Commission is once again in the spotlight. While central government employees are waiting for the Commission’s recommendations on salary revision, the last date to apply for consultant posts under the Commission has arrived.
Today, August 31, is the final day to submit applications. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website before the deadline.
Different Posts for Experienced Professionals
The recruitment offers opportunities for candidates with different levels of experience.
Senior Consultant: 2 vacancies, 10 years of experience required, maximum age 45 years.
Consultant: 6 vacancies, 6 years of experience required, maximum age 40 years.
Young Professional Consultant: Requires at least 2 years of experience.
Overall, the recruitment drive is being conducted for 23 positions.
Selected Candidates Must Reply Quickly
Candidates selected for these posts will receive an email from the Commission. They must respond within 7 days of receiving the email and join within 30 days.
Applicants should also have no criminal record. The appointment will be valid for one year or until the work of the 8th Pay Commission is completed, whichever is earlier.
Employees Waiting for the 8th Pay Commission Report
Millions of central government employees are eagerly waiting for the 8th Pay Commission’s recommendations.
The Commission was set up in November 2025 and has been given 18 months to prepare its report.
The report is expected to play a key role in deciding future salary revisions for central government employees.
Fitment Factor Remains the Biggest Demand
Employee unions are strongly pushing for a higher fitment factor, as it directly affects the basic salary.
Some unions have demanded that the fitment factor be increased to 3.83. There is also a demand to raise the family unit from 3 members to 5 members.
To understand employees’ concerns, the Commission has been holding meetings across the country.
Discussions have already taken place in Delhi, Lucknow, and Odisha, while meetings are currently being held in Jaipur and Puducherry.
