Good news for creators who were banned from YouTube: the platform has announced a new policy that will give them another opportunity.
The Google-owned company revealed that it is introducing a feature allowing previously banned creators to apply for a new channel.
Earlier, YouTube’s rules meant a permanent ban, but this strict policy is now being updated.
Who Can Return to YouTube?
In its official blog, YouTube explained that many terminated creators deserve a fresh start.
Those who were banned for spreading misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic or elections will now be able to apply for a new channel.
However, the condition is that their ban must be at least one year old. Eligible creators will soon see the option to create a new channel inside YouTube Studio.
Restrictions Still Apply
Not all banned creators will benefit from this change. YouTube has made it clear that those banned for copyright violations or for breaking the Creators Responsibility Policy will not get relief.
Similarly, creators who have already deleted their channels will not be able to return.
This move is part of a wider trend where Google and other companies are now relaxing some of the strict rules they had enforced during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 U.S. presidential election to stop misinformation.
