The Northern Railway has announced that eight long-distance trains will start running again from October 2.
These services were suspended earlier due to heavy rains and floods in August, which damaged railway tracks on the Jammu-Pathankot and Jammu-Katra sections.
Train services are being resumed only after ensuring the safety and stability of the affected tracks.
Impact of Heavy Rains and Restoration Work
At the end of August, more than 50 trains were cancelled after floods damaged tracks and bridges.
This left hundreds of passengers stranded at Jammu Railway Station.
Railway officials explained that the current restart is part of the fourth phase of restoring services.
The decision was taken after Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar, along with other officials, reviewed the damaged sections.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ujjwal Singhal, confirmed that technical repair work on tracks and bridges has been completed.
He added that train operations in the division are gradually returning to normal.
