New Rules from 1 July 2025: From 1st July 2025, many important changes are coming that will directly affect your daily life and expenses.
These changes include updates in railway fares, credit card charges, online wallet usage, PAN card rules, and more.
Even LPG cylinder prices will be revised, which may impact your kitchen budget. These small changes can lead to big effects on your monthly finances.
1. Train Travel to Become Costlier
Indian Railways will increase passenger fares starting July 1, 2025.
Non-AC coaches: Fare will rise by 1 paisa per km
AC class: Fare will go up by 2 paisa per km
No change in fare for local trains and second class (up to 500 km)
A slight increase of 0.5 paisa/km for second class travel over 500 km
Monthly Season Tickets (MST) will remain unaffected
2. New Tatkal Ticket Booking Rule
If you book Tatkal tickets often, note this update:
From July 1, while booking from the IRCTC website or app, an OTP will be sent to your mobile.
The booking won’t be completed unless you enter this OTP. This change aims to improve booking security and reduce misuse.
3. New Charges on Credit Cards and Wallets
HDFC Bank has introduced new fees:
If you spend over ₹10,000/month on gaming apps (e.g., Dream11, MPL, RummyCulture), a 1% extra charge will apply
The same 1% fee applies when you load more than ₹10,000 into wallets like Paytm, Mobikwik, and Freecharge
Spending over ₹50,000 on utility bills (electricity, gas, water) via credit card will also attract this charge
A 1% fee will be applied if fuel expenses exceed ₹15,000/month
4. Changes to ATM Withdrawals (ICICI Bank)
ICICI Bank customers will now pay more for ATM use:
More than 3 withdrawals per month from other banks’ ATMs will be charged
₹23 per transaction for financial (cash)
₹8.50 per transaction for non-financial (balance check, etc.)
This will increase the cost of ATM usage beyond free limits.
5. New System for Credit Card Bill Payments
As per RBI’s new rules, all credit card bill payments must now be done via the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).
Platforms like PhonePe, CRED, BillDesk will be affected
So far, only 8 banks have implemented this system, and others will join gradually
6. New PAN Card Rule
To apply for a new PAN card, Aadhaar is now mandatory.
If you already have PAN and Aadhaar, you must link them by 31 December 2025
Failing to do so can result in a fine, or your PAN may become invalid
7. LPG Cylinder Prices to Be Revised
LPG prices are revised on the 1st of every month.
On 1 July, both domestic and commercial LPG cylinder prices will be updated
If prices go up, it could affect the household budget.
