The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card is a significant initiative aimed at making healthcare services accessible to more people in India.
It ensures that all senior citizens in the country receive free treatment and medicines.
Additionally, chronic diseases can be treated under this scheme. On October 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched health schemes worth ₹12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, marking the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and Ayurveda Day.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi announced that all senior citizens aged 70 and above will receive free hospital treatment.
To facilitate this, the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card was introduced. This card will offer all health benefits available under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
Features of Ayushman Vyavandan Card
The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card will provide senior citizens with access to medical consultation and treatment.
It will cover pre-hospitalization expenses, medicines, and all treatment-related services.
Laboratory and diagnostic tests are also included. Additionally, the card will cover follow-up care for 15 days after hospitalization.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, this new card will be available to people of all income groups nationwide without any restrictions.
Senior citizens from low, middle, or high-income groups will be entitled to free healthcare services through the Ayushman card.
This initiative aims to benefit 6 crore senior citizens and 4.5 crore families.
How to apply?
An Aadhar card is required to apply for the scheme. Online registration can be done through the Ayushman app. So far, over 10 lakh senior citizens have registered for this initiative.
Chronic illnesses will already be covered
Under PM-JAY, pre-existing diseases are covered from the start, allowing senior citizens to begin treatment immediately.
This initiative not only provides access to healthcare services for all but also helps reduce the cost of medicines for the elderly.
