If you’re planning to share your suggestions for the 8th Pay Commission, here’s some good news.
The deadline has now been extended, giving you more time to participate.
Deadline Extended: What You Need to Know
The government has extended the last date to submit memorandums for the 8th Pay Commission by one month.
Earlier, the deadline was April 30, 2026.
Now, stakeholders can send their suggestions till May 30, 2026.
This extension comes after repeated requests from the National Council – Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), which represents employees.
The government had invited inputs from employees, pensioners, unions, and even individuals to help shape the new pay structure.

The process is completely online, and submissions are only accepted through official portals.

What Happens Next?
The 8th Pay Commission officially came into effect from January 1, 2026, right after the end of the 7th Pay Commission’s term.
The Commission has been given 18 months to submit its report.
However, the final decision will depend on approval by the Union Cabinet.
Will You Get Salary Arrears?
Looking at the past trend of the 7th Pay Commission, there’s a strong possibility of arrears.
Back then, revised salaries were implemented later, but employees received back pay from the starting date.
If the same pattern continues, even if implementation gets delayed to 2027 or 2028, employees may receive arrears calculated from January 1, 2026.
