The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has introduced a rule to promote renewable energy use.
From now on, installing solar panels is mandatory for plots measuring 100 square meters or more to get map approval.
This initiative, similar to the one implemented by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), has been added to GDA’s building bylaws.
The main aim is to encourage green energy use and create environmental awareness.
No Completion Certificate Without Solar Panels
Under this rule, houses without solar panels will not receive a completion certificate from the GDA. A property without this certificate is considered illegal,
and the owner may face legal action. This decision was approved in a recent GDA board meeting.
Along with environmental benefits, solar panels will help homeowners save on electricity bills.
Subsidy Eases Solar Panel Installation
To make solar panel installation affordable, the government provides a 30-40% subsidy.
Installing a one-kilowatt solar system typically costs between Rs 54,000 and Rs 80,000, but the subsidy lowers the cost significantly.
Under the PM Suryadhar Yojana, there is a target to install solar panels in 2 lakh homes across India, with Ghaziabad’s goal set at 10,000 homes.
Solar Panels to Reduce Pollution
The use of solar energy not only cuts electricity consumption but also significantly reduces pollution from conventional energy sources.
This initiative is expected to lower air pollution levels in Ghaziabad and nearby areas, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.
