A major fuel crisis could hit Rajasthan from June 1.

The Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association has warned that petrol pump operators across the state may go on an indefinite strike if the government does not address their demands.

The association has written to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, seeking immediate intervention and requesting a meeting before June 1.

According to the association, repeated letters and emails have not resulted in any discussion with senior government officials.

Fuel Supply Problems Creating Trouble for Petrol Pumps

Association President Rajendra Singh Bhati says the biggest issue is the irregular supply of petrol and diesel. Due to supply disruptions, many petrol pumps across Rajasthan are reportedly running out of fuel on a regular basis.

The association claims that petroleum companies have restricted fuel supplies through verbal instructions and WhatsApp messages.

Dealers who sell more fuel than the prescribed limit are allegedly facing administrative action, including suspension of their licenses.

Petrol pump operators also say they are being forced to sell expensive branded fuel even though customer demand for these products remains low.

Farmers and Dealers Also Facing Financial Pressure

The association has raised concerns about the impact on farmers ahead of the monsoon and sowing season.

It says restrictions on supplying diesel in drums to farmers could create serious problems in rural areas during a crucial farming period.

Dealers are also facing financial difficulties. According to the association, payments worth millions of rupees for fuel supplied on credit during government events, rallies, and visits by the Prime Minister are still pending.

Key Demands of the Petroleum Dealers Association

The association has put forward several demands, including:

Reduction of VAT on petrol and diesel by at least 5%

Bringing Rajasthan’s fuel tax rates in line with Punjab

Immediate restoration of normal fuel supplies

Action against illegal biodiesel and base oil trading

Quick payment of pending dues from government-related events

Why Dealers Are Threatening a Strike

Rajendra Singh Bhati says fuel prices in Rajasthan are among the highest in the country because of high VAT rates.

He also pointed out that CNG prices in the state are significantly higher than those in neighboring Haryana and Punjab.

The association has warned that if a solution is not found soon, petrol pump operators may begin an indefinite strike from June 1.

If that happens, Rajasthan could face serious disruptions in the supply of petrol and diesel, affecting commuters, businesses, farmers, and transport services across the state.
