Starting July 1, Indian Railways has announced significant fare reductions, making travel more affordable for millions of passengers.
The railways are converting the special trains that were running during the COVID-19 period back to normal trains, resulting in lower fares.
Fare Reductions in Multiple Divisions
In the Lucknow division alone, 24 trains will see a fare reduction.
Including the Moradabad and Ambala divisions, the numbers of a total of 119 trains have been changed, leading to lower fares for passengers.
Reason Behind the Change
Post-pandemic, many trains were reclassified as special trains with higher fares and numbers starting with 0.
Now, these trains are reverting to their old numbers and normal fare rates starting July 1.

Here are some of the trains with their new numbers:
- Farakka Express: 15733/43
- Bathinda-Balurghat Farakka Express: 15734/44
- Lucknow-Kanpur MEMU: 64203, 64204, 64211, 64212, 64214
- Ayodhya Cantt – Lucknow MEMU: 64215, 64216
Uttaretia – Kanpur MEMU: 64255
Shivpur-Utretia MEMU: 64281, 64282
- Prayagraj Sangam – Lucknow Passenger: 54253, 54254
- Lucknow-Balamau Passenger: 54331, 54332
Lucknow – Shahjahanpur Passenger: 54337, 54338
This change is set to benefit passengers, making train travel more economical.
