Hyundai Sets Up First Fast Charging Station in Chennai

Hyundai India has just launched Chennai’s inaugural fast charging hub, marking a significant milestone in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure for the city.

Both Hyundai and non-Hyundai electric car owners stand to benefit greatly from this initiative.

This pioneering move sees the installation of a 180 kW DC Fast Charging Station, a first for Chennai,

aimed directly at enhancing the EV ownership experience.

Equipped with a 180 kw DC Fast Charging setup, marks a significant milestone as Chennai’s premier public EV charging spot.

With connectors offering 150 kw and 30 kw, it’s hailed as the city’s initial rapid public EV charger.

Looking ahead, Hyundai plans to roll out 100 more EV charging stations, extending the convenience to electric vehicle owners across Tamil Nadu.

Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director of Corporate Planning at Hyundai, emphasized the company’s commitment to Tamil Nadu, stating,

“This state holds a special place for us, and we’re dedicated to its progress. Our goal is to promote EV adoption, and this station is open to all EV users.”

Access to the charging station will be streamlined through the myHyundai app, offering features such as location tracking, navigation, slot booking, digital payments, and remote monitoring of charging status.

The app will also provide details on over 170 charging points, catering to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai users alike.

Located at Spencer Plaza Mall, Anna Salai, Thousand Lights, this station is poised to revolutionize the EV landscape in Chennai and monitor charging status remotely.
