Diwali Flight Tickets are getting significantly more expensive on several domestic routes as demand rises ahead of the festive travel season.
On some routes, fares that are normally around ₹2,800 have reportedly climbed above ₹12,500 during peak travel dates.
The sharp increase is being seen around Diwali and Durga Puja, when a large number of people travel home. Routes with fewer direct flight options are seeing some of the biggest increases.
Diwali Flight Tickets Rise Sharply on Some Routes
The Kolkata-Deoghar route has seen one of the sharpest reported increases. A ticket that normally costs around ₹2,800 can cross ₹12,500 during peak Durga Puja travel dates.
Delhi-Patna non-stop economy tickets, which generally cost around ₹3,500 to ₹4,500, have reportedly crossed ₹12,500 on high-demand dates. Last-minute fares can go beyond ₹13,500.
Delhi-Agatti is another expensive route. A ticket normally priced at around ₹8,500 can rise to nearly ₹25,000 during peak demand.
Mumbai and Bengaluru Routes Also Get Expensive
Passengers travelling from Bengaluru to Jharsuguda may also have to spend considerably more. A fare of around ₹4,200 can reportedly increase to more than ₹16,200 around the festive period.
On the Mumbai-Bareilly route, fares that are normally around ₹4,500 can rise to approximately ₹15,000.
Mumbai-Kolkata tickets can also become significantly more expensive around Durga Puja. Peak fares are reported to range between ₹11,500 and ₹14,500, compared with around ₹5,000 during normal periods.
