People using CNG vehicles in Mumbai and nearby areas will now have to pay more for fuel.

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has increased CNG prices once again, taking the rate to ₹86 per kilogram in Mumbai and surrounding regions.

Along with CNG, the price of piped natural gas (PNG) used for cooking has also been increased by 52 paise per unit. The latest hike is expected to affect millions of households and vehicle owners.

CNG and PNG Become Costlier

The new CNG price of ₹86 per kg is now applicable in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Andheri, Kurla, and nearby areas.

PNG prices have also gone up by 52 paise per unit, impacting around 3.1 million households that use piped gas for cooking.

This is the second price hike by MGL in a short period. Earlier, on May 14, the company had increased CNG prices by ₹2 per kilogram.

Why Have Prices Increased?

According to reports, Mahanagar Gas Limited said that global tensions have affected gas supply chains, forcing the company to purchase gas from more expensive sources.

The company also pointed to rising crude oil prices and the weakening value of the Indian rupee as major reasons behind the increase. Due to these factors, MGL has raised CNG prices by ₹2 per kg and PNG prices by 52 paise per unit.

Latest CNG Prices in Delhi-NCR and Other Cities

CNG prices had already been increased in Delhi-NCR last week. In fact, it was the fourth price hike in the region since May 15.

According to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the current CNG rates are:

Delhi: ₹83.09 per kg

Noida: ₹91.70 per kg

Ghaziabad: ₹91.58 per kg

Meerut: ₹91.58 per kg

Kanpur: ₹94.42 per kg

Hamirpur: ₹94.42 per kg

Ajmer: ₹92.44 per kg

Petrol and Diesel Prices Remain Unchanged

While CNG prices are rising, petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on Saturday. Oil marketing companies have kept fuel rates stable at previous levels.

However, petrol and diesel prices have already been increased four times this month. As a result, petrol prices have crossed the ₹110 per litre mark in several cities across the country.
