According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, bank branches will remain closed in Tripura on August 19.

However, this holiday is not applicable across the entire country.

Banks in other states will operate normally, although customers should always check their local branch schedule before visiting.

Why Are Banks Closed in Tripura on August 19?

Banks in Tripura will remain closed on August 19 to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

He was born on August 19, 1908, and is widely remembered as an important figure in the development of modern Tripura.

During his reign, several steps were taken to promote education and development.

He supported the establishment of educational institutions and was also associated with the development of Agartala airport.

He also introduced measures to protect the rights of tribal communities and their land.

Because of his contribution to the state, his birth anniversary is observed every year in Tripura.

Will Banks Be Open in Other States?

Yes. The August 19 holiday is not a nationwide bank holiday.

Bank branches in states such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are expected to remain open as usual.

However, digital banking services such as UPI, internet banking and mobile banking generally continue to be available even when physical bank branches are closed.

Banks across the country will remain closed because it is the fourth Saturday of the month.

August 23, Sunday

All bank branches will remain closed as it is Sunday.

August 25, Tuesday

Banks will remain closed in certain locations, including Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, due to regional festivals and observances.

August 26, Wednesday

Several cities and states will observe bank holidays because of festivals and regional occasions, including Eid-e-Milad, Barawafat and Thiruvonam.

The affected locations include Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhopal, parts of Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Srinagar, Kanpur, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, New Delhi, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, among others.

August 28, Friday

Banks will remain closed in several locations due to festivals and regional celebrations, including Raksha Bandhan, Sri Narayana Guru Jayanti, Ayyankali Jayanti and Pang-Lhabsol.

Affected areas include parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh.

Therefore, a bank being closed in one state does not necessarily mean branches will be closed across the country.
