Canara Bank has changed its ATM transaction rules, and the new limits are effective from September 1, 2026.
Customers who regularly use ATMs should know the new free transaction limits and charges to avoid paying extra fees.
The bank has reduced the number of free transactions in certain cases. Customers will now have to pay a fee once they cross the monthly free limit.
How Many Free ATM Transactions Are Allowed?
Canara Bank earlier allowed up to six free ATM transactions under the applicable limit. This has now been reduced to five transactions. The limit includes both financial and non-financial transactions.
Financial transactions include cash withdrawals, while balance checks and similar services are considered non-financial transactions.
What Are the Charges After the Free Limit?
Once the free transaction limit is crossed, customers will have to pay ₹23 plus GST for each financial transaction. Earlier, the charge was ₹20 plus GST.
Charges also apply to non-financial transactions after the free limit is exhausted.
Charges for Using Other Bank ATMs
Canara Bank customers can make three free transactions per month at other bank ATMs in metro cities. In non-metro cities, up to five free transactions are allowed.
After the free limit is crossed, the bank will charge ₹23 plus GST for each financial transaction and ₹11 plus GST for each non-financial transaction.
Failed ATM Transactions May Also Cost More
Customers should also be careful about their account balance before withdrawing cash.
If an ATM transaction fails because there is not enough money in the account, Canara Bank will charge ₹23.
Earlier, the charge for such failed transactions was ₹17.
These changes make it important for Canara Bank customers to keep track of their monthly ATM usage, especially when using ATMs of other banks.
