NPS Central platform has been launched to make pension account management easier for National Pension System (NPS) subscribers.
Introduced by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) on October 1, 2026, the digital platform brings multiple pension-related services together in one place.
The initiative aims to reduce the need to navigate separate websites for routine pension account services.
Subscribers can check their investments, track contributions, download statements and explore different pension schemes through a consolidated digital interface.
What Is the NPS Central Platform?
NPS Central is a unified digital platform designed to simplify access to NPS services.
It brings together services offered by the three Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs) operating under the pension system: Protean, KFintech and CAMS.
Previously, subscribers could need to navigate different service interfaces depending on which agency maintained their accounts.
The new platform aims to provide a more convenient way to access pension information and manage routine account-related activities.
The platform is intended for existing NPS subscribers as well as people who want to open a new pension account.
It also provides access to several account management and investment-related facilities through a common dashboard.
Key Features of the NPS Central Platform
One of the main features is simplified login. Existing subscribers can access the platform using their registered mobile number and date of birth, followed by one-time password (OTP) verification.
This means they do not need to remember their Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) for this login process.
Once logged in, subscribers can view their NPS accounts and investment portfolios through the consolidated dashboard.
They can also track contributions, make additional contributions to existing schemes and download account statements.
The platform also allows users to update their profile information and compare pension schemes.
Subscribers can review scheme features, investment performance and applicable charges to help them understand the available options before making investment decisions.
Another useful facility is grievance support. Users experiencing account-related problems can access the Pension Sahayak portal through NPS Central to submit complaints.
How New Subscribers Can Open an NPS Account
People who have not yet joined the National Pension System can also use the platform to explore account-opening options.
The digital onboarding process includes AI-assisted support to help prospective subscribers navigate registration.
For identity verification, the platform offers options such as Central Know Your Customer (CKYC) and DigiLocker-based KYC facilities.
Applicants can explore investment schemes, compare their features and select a pension fund as part of the registration process.
After successful registration, new subscribers receive an electronic Permanent Retirement Account Number, known as an e-PRAN, along with access to essential account services.
The platform offers onboarding without an onboarding fee, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
However, subscribers should not assume that every service or investment-related activity is free. Applicable charges may still depend on the service or transaction involved.
NPS Central Also Offers Access to NPS Swasthya
The platform also facilitates registration for NPS Swasthya, which combines a dedicated investment corpus with a super top-up health insurance arrangement.
This facility brings an additional healthcare-related option into the broader NPS digital ecosystem.
However, an investment arrangement and health insurance serve different purposes, so prospective participants should review the applicable eligibility requirements, coverage details, exclusions and other terms before enrolling.
Subscribers should confirm the specific conditions of the arrangement before making a decision, rather than assuming that every medical expense will be covered.
What Other NPS Services Are Planned?
PFRDA has indicated that the platform will be expanded in phases to include additional facilities.
Planned enhancements include changes to investment choices and pension funds, Loan Against NPS facilities and systematic investment plan (SIP) mandates.
Other proposed additions include onboarding and maintenance services for NPS Vatsalya accounts, corporate onboarding, re-KYC facilities and services related to NPS Tier II accounts.
The regulator also intends to improve integration with other participants in the NPS ecosystem and existing digital services.
developments are intended to make pension-related services more accessible through a connected digital system.
However, subscribers should distinguish between features available on the platform and those planned for future phases.
The proposed additions should not be treated as currently available unless their launch has been confirmed.
What NPS Subscribers Should Know
Existing subscribers can explore NPS Central to check their account details, monitor contributions and review their investment portfolios.
Keeping their registered mobile number updated is important because the login process relies on OTP-based verification.
People considering a new NPS account can use the platform to compare available schemes and pension funds.
They should assess investment choices according to their retirement goals, investment horizon and ability to tolerate market-related risks.
The NPS Central platform is primarily a digital convenience initiative.
Although bringing services together may simplify account management, it does not guarantee higher investment returns or eliminate the risks associated with pension investments.
Subscribers should review the relevant scheme documents, charges and conditions before changing their investment choices or enrolling in additional facilities.
