LPG Gas E-KYC Rules are now important for households using Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas connections, particularly those receiving government subsidies or benefits under state-level free LPG cylinder schemes.

From October 1, 2026, domestic LPG consumers must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) to book refills at regulated prices with applicable subsidies.

The requirement is intended to ensure that subsidised LPG reaches eligible households and to reduce duplicate connections and the diversion of domestic cylinders for commercial use.

Consumers who have already completed the authentication do not need to repeat it.

LPG Gas E-KYC Rules for Rs 200–300 Subsidy

Eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) may receive an LPG subsidy of around Rs 200–300 per eligible refill, depending on the applicable benefit.

The subsidy is transferred to the beneficiary’s linked bank account after the cylinder is purchased at the applicable retail price.

For example, if a cylinder costs Rs 942 and a beneficiary receives a Rs 300 subsidy, the effective cost after the subsidy would be Rs 642.

The actual amount payable varies with the local cylinder price and the subsidy applicable to the household.

Consumers who have not completed biometric Aadhaar authentication may lose access to the subsidy until the process is completed.

The requirement applies to customers who have not yet authenticated; those who have already completed it do not need to do it again.

Which States Offer Free LPG Cylinders?

Several states have announced schemes offering free LPG cylinders to eligible households, although the number of cylinders and qualifying conditions differ by state.

In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has announced two free cylinders annually for eligible Ujjwala beneficiaries, with one linked to Diwali and another to Holi.

Delhi has announced two free LPG cylinders annually for eligible ration-card-holding families.

In Andhra Pradesh, the Deepam 2.0 scheme provides for three free cylinders per year for eligible women holding white ration cards, with bookings spaced across the year.

Goa and Uttarakhand have also been associated with free-cylinder benefits under state schemes. However, eligibility is not automatically extended to every LPG consumer in these states.

Applicants must meet the relevant scheme conditions, and benefit delivery depends on the applicable government rules.

Completing e-KYC is important where biometric authentication is required to receive the relevant LPG subsidy or scheme benefit.

How to Complete LPG Gas E-KYC at Home

Consumers can complete biometric Aadhaar authentication through their oil marketing company’s official mobile application or with assistance from their distributor or delivery personnel.

Indane customers can use the IndianOil ONE app. Bharat Gas customers can use the HelloBPCL app, while HP Gas customers can use the HP PAY app.

The general process involves logging in with the mobile number associated with the LPG connection, opening the e-KYC option and following the instructions for Aadhaar-based face authentication.

Depending on the app and process, customers may need the Aadhaar FaceRD application to complete the face scan.

Consumers who cannot complete the process through the app can visit their LPG distributor or ask whether authentication can be completed during cylinder delivery.

The government has clarified that consumers who have already completed biometric authentication do not need to repeat it.

The process is intended to verify eligible beneficiaries rather than deny LPG to genuine households.

What Happens If You Do Not Complete E-KYC?

Consumers who have not completed biometric authentication may be unable to book subsidised refills until they finish the required verification. Eligible PMUY beneficiaries may also lose their subsidy benefits during this period.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, consumers who are unwilling or unable to complete authentication can register their choice through their oil marketing company’s available digital channels.

They can still receive LPG at market prices in 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders, subject to local availability.

Before applying for a free-cylinder benefit, customers should check the eligibility criteria announced by their state government and confirm that their LPG account, Aadhaar details and bank information are correct.

Completing e-KYC can help eligible households avoid interruptions to subsidised refills and ensure that they meet the authentication requirements for applicable LPG benefits.
