ChatGPT virtual try-on feature is now available globally, allowing users to preview how clothes and accessories may look on them before making a purchase.

The new shopping tool lets users use their own photos to create virtual try-on images.

ChatGPT Virtual Try-On Feature: How It Works

The feature appears through a “Try On” button on eligible clothing and accessory listings in ChatGPT’s shopping results.

Users can select the option and upload a selfie or full-body photo to generate an image showing how the selected item could look on them.

Users can also upload a picture or screenshot of clothing or an accessory and ask ChatGPT to show how the item might look on them.

This means shoppers can use product images found outside ChatGPT as a reference for the virtual try-on experience.

What Users Can Do With the New Shopping Tool

The new feature is designed to make online fashion shopping more visual.

Instead of relying only on product photographs, users can preview an item using their own image before deciding whether to purchase it.

ChatGPT has also introduced a way to save products discovered during shopping.

Users can add products to Favorites and organise their saved finds in the ChatGPT Library for later reference.

The shopping experience can also help users explore a particular style. Users can describe the look they want and ask ChatGPT to find products that could help create it.

They can also upload photographs of outfits and ask ChatGPT to identify items that may be available for purchase.

 Important Limits of Virtual Try-On

The generated try-on image is only a visual preview and may not exactly represent the product or the user’s appearance. ChatGPT also does not guarantee the actual fit or size of an item.

Users should therefore check the seller’s measurements, product details and return policy before placing an order. The virtual preview can help with visualising an outfit, but it should not be treated as a replacement for actual sizing information.

The ChatGPT virtual try-on feature is available on both mobile and web, expanding the platform’s shopping tools beyond product discovery to visualising how selected clothing and accessories may look on the shopper.
