Mumbai-Goa Special Trains have been announced by Indian Railways to handle the expected surge in passenger demand during the Ganapati Festival 2026.
The additional services will connect Mumbai with Goa and provide extra Konkan connectivity through a separate Chiplun-Panvel MEMU service.
Mumbai-Goa Special Trains for Ganpati Festival
Train No. 01004, the Madgaon Junction-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Special, will leave Madgaon at 4 pm on September 15 and September 18, 2026.
It will reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 6:05 am the next day.
The return service, Train No. 01003, will depart from LTT at 7:50 am on September 16 and September 19.
It will reach Madgaon at 11:45 pm on the same day.
The train will stop at several important stations, including Karmali, Thivim, Sawantwadi Road, Kudal, Sindhudurg, Kankavali, Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Khed, Mangaon, Roha, Pen, Panvel and Thane.
The special train will have 19 coaches, including three AC 3-Tier coaches, eight sleeper coaches, six general coaches and two SLR/D coaches.
Chiplun-Panvel MEMU Adds More Konkan Connectivity
Railways will also operate an unreserved MEMU special between Chiplun and Panvel to provide additional local connectivity during the festival period.
Train No. 01160 will leave Chiplun at 9 am and reach Panvel at 2:30 pm.
It will operate from September 10 to 14 and again from September 18 to 27, 2026.
The return service, Train No. 01159, will leave Panvel at 3:20 pm and reach Chiplun at 10:20 pm.
The MEMU will halt at stations including Anjani, Khed, Kalambani Budruk, Diwankhavati, Vinhere, Karanjadi, Sape Wamne, Veer, Mangaon, Indapur, Kolad, Roha and Pen.
The service will have eight MEMU coaches and will be unreserved.
When Will Bookings Open?
Bookings for Train No. 01004 will open on September 8, 2026 through passenger reservation systems, the internet and the IRCTC website.
Passengers planning to travel during Ganapati Festival can check the latest timings and stoppages before making their journey, as the additional services are intended to provide more travel options during the expected festive rush.
