Google has taken a major step to make its AI features easier to use. The company has started rolling out Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live.
These features were announced at Google I/O 2026 and had been under testing for some time. They are now becoming available to general users.
The main feature of all three tools is that users do not have to type for every task. With Gemini, users can interact with Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep using their voice.
Docs Live Works as an AI Co-Writer
Google Docs Live is designed as a hands-free AI assistant that can help users create first drafts, summaries, proposals, and other documents.
Gemini can use more than just the information available in Google Docs. When needed, it can also take information from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web.
Before creating a document, Gemini will provide a short overview of the information it has found.
Users can then tell Gemini by voice what information they want to include and how they want the document to be formatted.
To use Docs Live, open the Google Docs app and tap the floating action button. The Create with voice option will appear, which launches Docs Live.
Gmail Live Lets You Talk to Your Inbox
Gmail Live is designed to make searching and understanding emails easier. Users will no longer need to manually go through individual emails or long email conversations to find specific information.
Users can ask questions directly through Gmail Live, and Gemini will provide answers based on the information available in their inbox.
Users also do not need to repeat all the details again and again during the same conversation.
If users want to change the topic, they can quickly pause the conversation. Gmail Live also has a full-screen interface that shows a transcript of the conversation. Its responses can include links to relevant emails.
To use Gmail Live, tap the new Live icon in the Gmail app’s search bar. At present, the feature is available globally in English for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra users on Android and iOS.
Keep Live Turns Your Voice Into Notes and Lists
Google Keep Live can be useful when users suddenly remember an idea, task, or something important they need to do.
Users can simply speak naturally without following a specific format, and Gemini will understand the information and turn it into an organized list.
For example, if you say that you need to buy ingredients to make pesto pasta, Keep Live can understand the request and create a shopping list.
Users can also create multiple notes during one session. Notes can be edited later using voice commands.
Who Can Use These Features?
Keep Live is currently available on Android devices and requires an updated Google AI Plus, Pro, or Ultra subscription.
Access to Gmail Live and Docs Live depends on the user’s Google AI plan. Google has also confirmed that Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live will soon be available to Google Workspace business users.
