If you want your child to stay connected but don’t want them getting distracted by social media or online content, HMD has introduced a new feature phone just for that.
The company has launched the HMD 105 4G School Edition, a phone designed for school-going children that focuses only on essential communication.
Unlike smartphones, this device is built for calling and texting.
HMD has removed features that could distract students, making it a simple and practical option for parents.
Built for Safe Communication
The HMD 105 4G School Edition supports basic calling and messaging, but it does not include a web browser. This means children cannot browse the internet from the phone.
The phone comes with the classic Snake game for light entertainment, but features like voice recording have also been removed.
HMD has also added a PIN-protected parental control system. Using this, parents can disable Bluetooth, MMS, and even the FM radio if they want.
Display, Battery and Other Features
The phone uses the same hardware as the regular HMD 105 4G, so users still get good durability and battery life. It features a 2.4-inch display with 240×320 resolution, 64MB RAM,
and 128MB internal storage. Storage can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
For connectivity, it supports 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. It also includes Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired earphones.
Long Battery Life and Contact Storage
The HMD 105 4G School Edition can store up to 2,000 contacts, making it suitable for everyday use.
It is powered by a removable 1,450mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver up to 15 days of standby time on a single charge.
HMD has not yet announced the phone’s price or confirmed the countries where it will be available. For reference, the standard HMD 105 4G was launched in India in 2024 at a price of ₹2,199.
