If you are planning to fly to Bengaluru, there is an important update you should know.
Kempegowda International Airport is introducing a new rule that will affect the total cost of your flight.
From September 1, 2026, passengers arriving at Bengaluru Airport will also have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF). Until now, this charge was applicable only to passengers departing from the airport.
What is UDF?
UDF, or User Development Fee, is a charge collected from passengers to support airport infrastructure and development.
The fee is added to the ticket price after approval from the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA).
With the new rule, passengers arriving in Bengaluru will also have to pay this fee, increasing the overall cost of their journey.
New UDF Charges from September 1
The new UDF rates will be different for domestic and international passengers arriving at Bengaluru Airport.
Domestic passengers arriving in Bengaluru will have to pay a UDF of ₹125, while international passengers will be charged ₹426.
For example, if your domestic flight ticket costs ₹3,000, you will pay an additional ₹125 as UDF, taking your total ticket cost to ₹3,125.
Good News for Departing Passengers
While arriving passengers will pay a new UDF, travelers flying out of Bengaluru will actually benefit from lower charges.
The UDF for domestic departures has been reduced from ₹550 to ₹300. For international departures, the fee has been cut from ₹1,500 to ₹997.
This means passengers leaving Bengaluru will pay less than before, while those arriving at the airport will now have to pay the newly introduced UDF.
When Will the New Rule Start?
The revised UDF structure will come into effect from September 1, 2026.
If you are booking a flight to or from Bengaluru after this date, check your ticket fare carefully, as the applicable UDF will be included based on whether you are arriving or departing.
