Gold prices are once again grabbing attention in India as the yellow metal continues its strong rally.

On August 22, 2026, prices of 24K, 22K and 18K gold all increased.

The biggest jump was seen in 24K gold, which rose by Rs 152 per gram to reach Rs 16,309 per gram.

The rally has been particularly strong over the past few days. In just three days, the price of 24K gold has increased by Rs 81,200 per 100 grams.

Gold Prices Rise Across All Major Purities

The increase was not limited to 24K gold.

Why Is Gold Price Rising So Fast?

Several factors are supporting the recent rise in gold prices.

One major factor is the weaker US dollar, which can make gold more attractive to investors.

Expectations around the US Federal Reserve’s interest-rate policy are also influencing the market.

Investors are watching closely for signs that the Fed could take a softer approach.

At the same time, central banks continue to buy gold, adding support to prices.

Gold is also benefiting from renewed safe-haven demand as investors look for assets that can offer protection during periods of economic or market uncertainty.

For Indian buyers, the upcoming festive and wedding season could provide another boost to physical gold demand.

Silver Price Today: No Change

While gold continued its upward journey, silver prices remained unchanged on August 22.

Silver was priced at Rs 260 per gram.

The price for 10 grams stood at Rs 2,600, while 100 grams cost Rs 26,000.

For 1 kilogram, the silver rate remained at Rs 2,60,000, unchanged from the previous session.

What Could Happen to Gold Prices Next?

Market experts continue to watch both global economic developments and technical levels for clues about gold’s next move.

According to Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director of RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd. and President of the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd., gold has recently broken out of its earlier trading range and reached around $4,500.

He noted that gold could potentially move towards $4,600, while silver has also shown strength after crossing an important technical level.

However, gold and silver prices can change quickly based on global economic conditions, currency movements, interest rates and investor demand.

Note: Gold and silver rates can vary by location and may differ from retail jewellery prices because of taxes, making charges and other costs. The figures above are market rates and should not be treated as investment advice.
