Post Office Savings Account holders have received a major convenience.
The Department of Posts has introduced an online facility to request Personalized Cheque Books (PCBs) through internet banking.
The new service became available from July 18, 2026, allowing customers to apply for a cheque book from home without visiting a post office.
Earlier, customers had to submit their cheque book requests by visiting the post office counter.
What Is a Personalized Cheque Book?
A personalized cheque book is one in which the account holder’s name is already printed on every cheque leaf. This makes cheque transactions more convenient and secure.
According to the Department of Posts, the cheque book will be delivered free of cost to the registered address of the primary account holder.
Although the Personalized Cheque Book facility was introduced on May 8, 2026, it has now been integrated with Post Office Internet Banking, making the application process much easier.
How to Apply for a Personalized Cheque Book Online
Customers can request a cheque book by following these simple steps:
Log in to your Post Office Internet Banking account.
Go to General Services → Service Requests → New Requests.
Select Personalized Cheque Book Request.
Choose Request Cheque Book under the Type of Operation.
Select your savings account number.
Read the terms and conditions and accept them.
Click Submit Online.
Enter your transaction password to confirm the request.
After submitting the request, the system will display important details such as:
Account holder’s name
Delivery address
Savings account number
Account type
Joint account holder’s name (if applicable)
Request date
Registered mobile number
Cheque Book Charges
The Department of Posts has fixed the following charges:
Up to 10 cheque leaves in a calendar year: No charge
Beyond 10 cheque leaves: ₹2 per cheque leaf
If any charges apply, the amount will be automatically deducted from the selected savings account.
Why This Facility Is Useful
The new online service saves customers both time and effort.
Instead of visiting a post office, eligible customers can now request a personalized cheque book anytime through internet banking.
Once approved, the cheque book will be delivered directly to the registered address.
The move is expected to make banking services more convenient and improve the overall experience for Post Office Savings Account holders.
