The Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch a major health scheme for teachers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will officially launch the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme in Varanasi on July 8.
Under this scheme, eligible teachers and their dependent family members will be able to receive cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals.
Initially, the scheme will cover teachers from the Basic Education Department and the Secondary Education Department.
The government has also announced that teachers and employees of the Higher Education Department will be included at a later stage.
What Benefits Will Teachers Get?
The new scheme offers benefits similar to those available under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Once enrolled, eligible teachers and their families can get cashless treatment at Ayushman Bharat-affiliated hospitals across the country.
This means they will not have to pay treatment expenses upfront, reducing the financial burden during serious medical emergencies.
How Will Basic Education Teachers Register?
The Basic Education Department has created a dedicated online portal for teacher registration.
According to the government, 7,89,032 beneficiaries have already submitted their details.
The registration process is simple:
Teachers will fill in their details on the online portal.
The concerned Block Education Officer (BEO) will verify the information.
The District Basic Education Officer (BSA) will give the final approval.
The approved data will be linked to the BIS portal of the National Health Authority (NHA).
After completing Aadhaar-based e-KYC, teachers can download their digital health card.
Registration Process for Secondary Education Teachers
The online registration portal for the Secondary Education Department was launched on July 3.
The process includes the following steps:
Teachers will submit their application online.
The school Principal will verify the details.
The District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) will approve the application.
The verified data will be sent to the National Health Authority.
After Aadhaar e-KYC is completed, teachers will be able to download their digital health card.
Digital Health Card Will Enable Cashless Treatment
Once the verification and e-KYC process is complete, teachers will receive a digital health card.
This card can be used to avail cashless treatment at hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, making access to healthcare much easier for teachers and their families.
Higher Education Staff to Be Included Soon
The Yogi government is also planning to expand the scheme in the coming months.
A separate online portal will be launched for teachers and employees of universities and colleges.
After registering through this portal, they will also become eligible for the cashless medical treatment benefits under the scheme.
The move is expected to provide wider health coverage to teaching staff across Uttar Pradesh and reduce their medical expenses during emergencies.
