If you usually travel with just a backpack or cabin bag, IndiGo has introduced a new ticket option that could help you save money.
The airline has launched IndiGo Lite, a low-cost fare designed for passengers who do not need checked baggage or extra travel services.
Bookings for the new fare begin July 1, 2026, while passengers travelling from July 15, 2026 onwards will be able to use this option.
What Is IndiGo Lite?
IndiGo Lite is a special fare created for travellers who carry only hand luggage or cabin baggage.
With this option, passengers pay only for the services they actually need instead of paying for extras they may never use.
According to the airline, this gives customers more flexibility while helping them reduce their travel expenses.
Where Can You Book IndiGo Lite?
The new fare can only be booked through IndiGo’s official booking channels, including:
IndiGo’s official website
IndiGo mobile app
IndiGo customer contact centre
The Lite fare will be available on domestic and international non-stop flights.
It can also be selected for one-way, round-trip and multi-city bookings.
The fare is available for both adult and child passengers.
ATF Prices Reduced From July 1
The launch of IndiGo Lite comes on the same day the Central Government reduced the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) for domestic airlines.
From July 1, ATF prices have been cut by ₹5 per litre.
Following the reduction, the fuel price in Delhi has come down to around ₹110 per litre.
Could Air Travel Become More Affordable?
Fuel is one of the biggest operating expenses for airlines. A reduction in ATF prices can help airlines lower their operating costs over time.
While there is no official announcement of cheaper airfares because of the fuel price cut, the lower ATF cost could provide airlines with more flexibility in managing ticket prices in the future.
Meanwhile, passengers who travel light can start saving immediately by choosing IndiGo’s new Lite fare.
