The next few weeks are set to be exciting for car buyers in India. Major automakers including Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, JSW MG Motor, Renault, Nissan,
and Honda are preparing to launch several new models in the Indian market.
The action begins on June 30, when Tata Motors launches its much-awaited electric SUV. After that, several new cars and SUVs will be unveiled during the first half of July. Here’s a look at the upcoming launches.
Tata Sierra EV Launches on June 30
The biggest launch this week will be the new electric version of the iconic Tata Sierra EV.
The SUV is expected to come with two battery pack options — 65kWh and 75kWh — borrowed from the Harrier EV. Tata is likely to offer a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge.
Top variants may also feature Tata’s advanced dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, offering better performance and capability.
Renault Kwid Facelift Coming on July 3
Renault Kwid will receive a major update on July 3.
The refreshed hatchback is expected to get a redesigned exterior and new features inspired by the globally sold Dacia Spring. However, Renault is not expected to make any changes to the engine.
The updated Kwid will continue to use the existing 1.0-litre petrol engine with the current transmission options.
Nissan’s New SUV to Debut on July 9
On July 9, Nissan will unveil its new mid-size SUV, expected to compete in one of India’s fastest-growing segments.
The new SUV is likely to borrow several elements from the new Renault Duster, including its platform, cabin design and features. It is expected to get 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine options.
The SUV’s exterior design is expected to take inspiration from Nissan’s premium global models.
MG to Introduce Its First Plug-in Hybrid SUV
JSW MG Motor is also preparing to launch its first plug-in hybrid SUV in India on July 9.
The upcoming SUV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight platform sold in China. It could feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack, producing around 197 bhp of power.
This launch will mark MG’s entry into India’s growing plug-in hybrid segment.
Maruti Brezza Facelift Expected This July
Maruti Suzuki Brezza is also set to receive a major update this month.
The biggest change could be the introduction of a 1.0-litre turbo Boosterjet petrol engine, similar to the one used in the Fronx. The SUV may also get a new 6-speed manual transmission.
At the same time, Maruti is expected to continue offering the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine option.
Honda ZR-V Hybrid Also on the Way
Honda ZR-V is expected to enter the Indian market in July as Honda’s new premium hybrid SUV.
The SUV is likely to feature a 2.0-litre petrol engine combined with a dual-motor hybrid system. Together, the setup is expected to produce 184 bhp of power and 315 Nm of torque.
With multiple launches planned across different segments, the first half of July is shaping up to be one of the busiest periods for the Indian automobile market this year.
