If you have an account with Punjab National Bank (PNB), this update is important for you. The bank has issued a warning that some customer accounts may be closed. However, this rule does not apply to all customers.
According to information shared by PNB on its official social media, certain customers must complete their KYC (Know Your Customer) process. C
ustomers need to visit their bank branch and complete KYC before April 15, 2026. If they fail to do so, their bank account will be closed starting April 16, 2026.
Which Accounts Will Be Closed?
PNB has clarified that this rule applies only to specific accounts. These include:
Accounts with no transactions in the last 3 years
Accounts with a zero (0) balance
Customers with such accounts must visit their nearest branch and complete their KYC before the deadline. If KYC is not completed by April 15, 2026, these accounts will be closed without any further notice from April 16, 2026.
For more details, customers are advised to contact or visit their nearest PNB branch.
What Is an Inactive Account?
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), an inactive (or inoperative) account is a savings or current account that has not had any customer-initiated transactions for more than 2 years.
If your PNB account has had no transactions for the last three years, you must:
