Yamaha has officially launched its first electric scooter in India, called the EC-06. The scooter is priced at ₹167,600 (ex-showroom) and will initially be sold through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square dealerships in selected cities.

The EC-06 is built on the same platform as the River Indie. With this launch, Yamaha has taken an important step into India’s electric mobility market.

Battery, Power, and Range

The Yamaha EC-06 comes with an internal permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) and a 4kWh fixed battery. It produces 6.7kW peak power, 26Nm torque, and has a top speed of 79 km/h.

The scooter can be charged using a normal household plug and takes about 8 hours for a full charge. On a single charge, it offers a certified range of 169 km, making it suitable for daily city travel.

Design and Hardware

At launch, the EC-06 is available in only one color — Bluish White. Yamaha says the scooter is designed in India but follows global styling. It is targeted at urban riders who want a stylish, practical, and eco-friendly commuting option.

The scooter is equipped with 200mm disc brakes on both wheels and a Combi Brake System (CBS) for safe and stable braking. It also features LED headlights and taillights, which improve visibility and give it a modern look.

Key Features and Comfort

The Yamaha EC-06 offers three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Power. These modes allow riders to choose between better efficiency, balanced performance, or quick acceleration.

It also has a reverse mode, which makes parking and moving in tight spaces easier. For comfort, the scooter uses telescopic front forks with hydraulic dampers and rear coil springs, helping it handle rough city roads smoothly.

The scooter also comes with a colourful LCD display that shows speed, battery level, riding modes, and connectivity features.

Price and Competition

The Yamaha EC-06 is priced at ₹167,600 (ex-showroom). It competes with popular electric scooters like the River Indie, Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, Suzuki e-Access, and other models in the Indian market.
