With the start of the new year, a new cab service called Bharat Taxi has been launched in India. Fully supported by the government, this service aims to increase the income of cab drivers while protecting passengers from the unfair practices of companies like Ola and Uber.
Bharat Taxi gives complete ownership rights to drivers, meaning they won’t have to pay high commissions, and their work won’t be controlled by private companies.
Residents and drivers in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Noida, and Gurugram are expected to benefit the most.
Drivers Keep Their Earnings, Passengers Pay Less
Bharat Taxi will operate as a zero-commission platform. This means all the money paid by passengers goes directly to the driver. Since drivers keep the full fare, travel costs for passengers will also be lower.
Bharat Taxi follows a fixed-price model, so passengers won’t face sudden fare hikes during peak hours, rain, or traffic—unlike Ola and Uber, which increase fares under surge pricing.
Affordable and Transparent Fares
Bharat Taxi offers services for cars, autos, and bikes, and the service is entirely app-based, available on both Android and iOS. Passengers can also choose between AC and non-AC rides.
According to Live Hindustan, the fare structure is as follows:
First 4 km: ₹30 (fixed)
Next 4–12 km: ₹23 per km
Above 12 km: ₹18 per km

Here’s an example to understand the fares:
12 km journey: First 4 km = ₹30, next 8 km (5–12 km) = ₹184 → Total = ₹214
15 km journey: First 4 km = ₹30, next 11 km (5–15 km) = ₹198 → Total = ₹228
This fixed pricing ensures that passengers know exactly what they will pay, and drivers earn fairly without losing money to commissions.
