If you have any bank-related work lined up for next week, you might need to plan ahead.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in several parts of the country will remain closed for up to five days between October 27 and November 2, 2025.
These holidays will be observed for Chhath Puja, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, and other regional celebrations.
However, remember that bank holidays differ from state to state depending on local festivals and events.
Banks Closed for Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja, one of the most important festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal, will be celebrated from October 25 to October 28 this year.
Due to the festival,
Banks will be closed on Monday, October 27 in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi, and
Again on Tuesday, October 28 in Patna and Ranchi.
This means banks in Patna and Ranchi will stay shut for four consecutive days, including the weekend.
Chhath Puja is dedicated to worshipping the Sun God and thanking nature for sustaining life.
Devotees observe fasting, take holy dips, and offer prayers for health, prosperity, and well-being.
Holiday on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birth Anniversary
Banks in Ahmedabad will remain closed on Friday, October 31, 2025, to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — one of India’s most respected leaders.
Patel played a key role in India’s freedom struggle and later became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of the country.
Other Regional Bank Holidays
Apart from these, banks in certain states will also remain closed for Kannada Rajyotsava and Igas Bagwal celebrations.
Customers are advised to check the RBI’s regional holiday list or contact their local branch before visiting.
Bottom Line
If you have important financial tasks, plan them before or after the holiday stretch.
Although physical branches will be closed, online banking, ATMs, and mobile services will continue to operate as usual.
