The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced special metro timings to help commuters during the Diwali festive period.
On Sunday, October 19, trains on the Pink, Magenta, and Grey Lines will start at 6 am, an hour earlier than usual.
This early start is aimed at passengers heading out for festive shopping and temple visits.
On Diwali day, Monday, October 20, the last metro trains from all terminal stations, including the Airport Express Line, will depart at 10 pm, an hour earlier than usual.
Regular services will continue during the day as per the standard timetable.
DMRC advised travellers to use metro smart cards and digital payments to avoid queues and plan their journeys efficiently amid the anticipated festive rush.
NHAI Launches FASTag Annual Pass as a Festive Gift
In a related initiative, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a new gifting option for the FASTag annual pass via its ‘Rajmargyatra’ app.
The move is aimed at promoting cashless and convenient highway travel during the Diwali season.
Priced at ₹3,000, the FASTag annual pass is valid for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings.
It can be activated within two hours on any existing FASTag linked to a non-commercial vehicle.
Users can gift a pass by selecting the “Add Pass” option in the app, entering the recipient’s vehicle number and contact details, and completing a simple OTP verification.
The pass is already popular, with over 25 lakh users and 5.67 crore transactions processed since its launch.
It can be used at more than 1,150 toll plazas nationwide, making it a convenient gift for frequent travellers.
Making Festive Travel Easier
Both the DMRC’s adjusted metro schedule and the FASTag gifting feature are designed to ease public movement and reduce congestion during the festive period.
With heavy travel expected across cities and highways, authorities have urged commuters to plan their trips in advance and follow safety guidelines for a smoother journey.
