Aadhaar is an essential ID for every Indian citizen. It is needed for bank accounts, government schemes, and many other services. While getting a new Aadhaar is free, updating certain details may now incur a fee.
From October 1, 2025, UIDAI has revised the fees for Aadhaar updates, making some services more expensive. Here’s a breakdown:
1. Biometric Updates
Includes fingerprint, iris, and photo updates.
Free:
Ages 5–7 and 15–17 (one-time update)
Ages 7–15 until September 30, 2026
Paid: ₹125 for all others
2. Demographic Updates
Includes name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile number, and email.
Free if updated along with biometric changes
Paid ₹75 if updated separately
3. Document Updates
Includes submission of proof of identity or address.
Free if done through the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026
Paid ₹75 if updated at an Aadhaar centre
These changes mean citizens need to plan Aadhaar updates carefully to avoid unnecessary charges.
