RBI releases list of Bank holidays from sept 29 to oct 5

The festive season has started with Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath around the corner.

September is ending, and October will begin with a series of holidays.

From September 29 to October 5, banks will remain closed in different states on account of festivals.

During this time, services like cheque clearance, draft issuance, and loan-related work will be affected.

People who need to deposit or withdraw cash at bank branches may also face difficulties.

Therefore, it is advised to arrange your cash needs in advance.

 Online services like UPI and net banking will continue without any issues.

RBI Holiday List for October 2025

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the holiday schedule.

However, not all banks across the country will be closed on the same days.

Holidays will vary by state and festival.

Here’s the detailed list:

September 29 (Monday): Banks closed in Agartala, Kolkata, and Guwahati (Maha Shashthi – Durga Puja).

September 30 (Tuesday): Banks closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi (Maha Ashtami).

October 1 (Wednesday): Banks closed in Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, and Trivandrum (Mahanavami, Dussehra, Vijayadashami).

October 2 (Thursday): Nationwide holiday for Gandhi Jayanti.

October 3 & 4 (Friday & Saturday): Banks closed in Gangtok (Durga Puja).

October 5 (Sunday): Weekly holiday across India.

 In total, October 2025 is packed with festivals and holidays, including Mahanavami, Dussehra, Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja.

A national holiday will also be observed on October 2 for Gandhi Jayanti.
