The wait for travelers across India is almost over, as the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is ready for launch.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the service will start only after the second train is also ready for regular operations.
Currently, one train has successfully completed trials and testing at the Shakur Basti coaching depot.
The construction of the second train is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by October 15, 2025.
Both trains will be launched simultaneously to ensure uninterrupted service, which is why the ministry is waiting for the second train.
Possible Routes and Bihar Speculations
There is strong speculation that the New Delhi–Patna route may be the first for the Vande Bharat Sleeper train.
This is partly because Bihar assembly elections are scheduled by the end of the year.
However, no official announcement regarding the route has been made yet.
New Railway Projects in Punjab and Haryana
Railway Minister Vaishnaw and Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu shared updates about new projects:
The Rajpura-Mohali railway line in Punjab will provide the shortest route to Chandigarh, reducing the distance by 66 kilometers and easing traffic on the Rajpura-Ambala route.
A proposal is under consideration to operate a Vande Bharat train between Delhi and Ferozepur Cantt, covering 486 km in 6 hours and 40 minutes.
Station Redevelopment and Punctuality
30 railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
29 railway divisions, including Malda, Nagpur, Mysore, Sealdah, and Thiruvananthapuram, have achieved 90% punctuality.
Vaishnaw stated he will request the Prime Minister to approve the Delhi-Ferozepur Vande Bharat train.
Since 2014, 9 major railway projects have been completed, and work is ongoing on 7 others.
The launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper trains is expected to enhance travel comfort and reduce journey times for passengers across India.
