Easy steps to file GST overpricing complaints Online and by Phone

However, some companies and retailers are still charging higher prices despite the GST cut.

If you face this issue, you can file a complaint with the concerned department or through the central government’s helpline.

Recently, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution announced a new initiative.

A special section has been launched on the Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism (INGRAM) portal to handle complaints from consumers not receiving the GST benefit.

The Department of Consumer Affairs is also working to connect the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) with the Next-Gen GST Reforms 2025.

How to File a Complaint

Call the toll-free numbers 1915 or 1800 11 4000 between 8 AM and 8 PM (not available on national holidays).

You can also send a message to 8800001915 to register your complaint.

Complaints can be registered in 17 languages including Hindi, English, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Nepali, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Maithili, Santali, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, and Manipuri.

You can also use the Umang app or the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) app on your phone to submit a complaint.

What Action Will Be Taken?

The Ministry has stated that data collected from complaints will be shared with companies, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), and other concerned agencies.

This will help take timely action under the law and ensure proper compliance with GST rules.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has clarified that strict action will be taken against companies or retailers who fail to pass on GST benefits to customers.

The government will continuously monitor the situation to protect consumers.
