India 1st Bullet Train to Connect Mumbai & Ahmedabad in 2 Hours (Launch Date 2027)

India’s dream of high-speed rail is close to becoming reality. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project is moving ahead quickly, and according to reports, the first commercial journey will take place in December 2027.

This landmark train will link Mumbai, India’s financial capital, with Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s key industrial hub, transforming the travel experience between the two cities.

First Run in 2027

The initial operational stretch of the 508 km corridor will be between Surat and Bilimora.

The Thane section will be ready in 2028, while the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) station in Mumbai will be completed by 2029.

Once the project is fully functional, trains will run every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes afterwards.

Speed of 320 km/h

The bullet train will travel at speeds of up to 320 km per hour, cutting travel time from the current 6–7 hours to just over 2 hours.

Recently, the project achieved a milestone with the completion of a 5 km tunnel between Ghansoli and Shilphata.

The tunnel is 12.6 meters wide and 13.1 meters in diameter, designed for dual tracks.

Japanese Technology, Indian Milestone

The project is being built with advanced Japanese Shinkansen technology, famous worldwide for its safety, comfort, and punctuality.

So far, 321 km of bridge construction, 17 river bridges, and 9 steel bridges have been completed.

Expected Ticket Price

Official fares have not been announced yet. However, reports suggest that a full journey between Mumbai and Ahmedabad may cost between ₹3,000 and ₹5,000.
