Earn More with YouTube’s Live Gifting Feature

For online content creators, live streaming is no longer just about connecting with the audience—it has become a big source of income.

To support this, YouTube has launched a new feature called Gift Goals.

This feature has been introduced to compete with TikTok’s gifting model, allowing creators to earn faster by receiving gifts from their fans.

How the Gift System Works

YouTube first announced the gifting system in November 2024, and in 2025 it is being rolled out to more creators.

With this, viewers can send gifts during live streams, which are converted into Rubies.

Earnings: For every 100 Rubies, creators earn 1 dollar.

Live Format Requirement: Gifts can only be redeemed when creators stream in vertical format.

Activation: The feature can be turned on from the Earn tab in YouTube Studio.

Special Feature: Setting Goals

One of the biggest highlights of Gift Goals is that creators can now set targets during live streams. Fans can help them reach these targets by sending gifts.

Creators can also share with their audience how they will celebrate once the goal is achieved.

Earlier, this goal-setting option was only available for Super Chats, but now it works for gifts too. However, once Gift Goals is activated, Super Stickers will not be available.

Easy Gifting for Viewers

The gifting process is simple for viewers. They can buy bundles called Jewels, priced between $0.99 and $49.99.

Once purchased, these Jewels can be used to send gifts multiple times during a live stream.

Viewers also get a set of animated gifts, but customization options are not available.

Bonus for Creators

To make the feature more attractive, YouTube is offering eligible creators a 50% bonus (up to $1,000) on their gift earnings during the first three months.

This shows that Gift Goals is not just about boosting income, but also about increasing engagement between creators and their fans.

Similar to TikTok’s gifting model, YouTube’s move could bring a major shift in the content industry in the coming years.
